The purpose of this blog...

Hello All,
     In this blog, I will be drawing on the themes and ideas presented in my American Music & Politics class in order to discuss modern popular songs with obvious (or not-so-obvious) political undertones.  I will discuss how effectively the song portrays its message, how the choice of words in the lyrics contributes to the tone and theme of the song, and how the chosen artist's musical style effects the song's impact.  Interspersed among these in-depth posts, I will sprinkle in tidbits of thoughts regarding current events, mass media's effect on politics today, and celebreties' sway on current popular viewpoints.  Thank you for reading!
